Celebrity Cruises has taken the successful delivery of the 141,420 GT Celebrity Ascent, constructed by the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard based in France’s St. Nazaire.

Celebrity Ascent, the fourth ship in the line’s Edge Series, is 1,073 feet long with a 128-foot beam, a 27-foot draft, and seating for up to 3,260 guests.

The yacht cruises at reported speeds of up to 22 about knots thanks to Wärtsilä engines and ABB Azipod propulsion.

Celebrity Ascent boasts award-winning and creative Edge Series hallmark experiences that heralded a whole new era in cruise ship design, as well as a few new additions, and the firm cannot wait to welcome the passengers aboard, stated Laura Hodges Bethge, Celebrity Cruises president.

Celebrity Ascent is just another example of how innovation is driving our commitment to ethically give the finest experiences.

According to Jason Liberty, the CEO and president of Celebrity Cruises’ parent company, the Royal Caribbean Group, the ship keeps up Celebrity’s goal to redefine elite travel by pushing it to new heights.

Celebrity Ascent will begin service in December, sailing to the Caribbean from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., in April before traveling to the Mediterranean from Barcelona and Rome.

Celebrity Ascent will have the same level of success as the previous ships in the famous Edge Series.

Its excellent seaworthiness and exquisite exterior and interior design make it an outstanding ship, said Laurent Castaing, Chantiers de l’Atlantique’s general director.

Celebrity Xcel, the fifth ship in the Edge Series, is now under construction and is slated to arrive in 2025.
